A LETTER FROM THE HOST,
Keya Neal
I am writing to you today with great enthusiasm and a renewed sense of purpose. As the founder of Texture VS Race, I am committed to driving positive change within the beauty industry and creating a more inclusive environment for all. Today, I want to share some exciting updates about the upcoming Texture VS Race Summit and how it will revolutionize the way stylists approach hair shows. This year's Texture VS Race Summit has evolved into a first-of-its-kind hair show that celebrates a truly inclusive and diverse experience. Existing hair shows significantly lack true inclusivity. These shows are often categorized as either the "black show" or "white show" with only a sprinkling of diversity. Such segregation does not reflect the vibrancy and diversity that exists within the beauty industry. This year's summit will bring together an inclusive array of educators and brand partners to teach, demonstrate, and build connections with attendees under the premise that "products are for performance, not people." In addition, we are thrilled to offer even more educational opportunities to help stylists diversify their skillset when working with different hair textures. Whether you specialize in cut, color, or styling, you will have the chance to participate in a rotation of stage education, hands-on learning, and breakout sessions led by esteemed educators. My ultimate goal is for attendees to view hair through the lens of art and science. By changing the narrative and creating a brand and education inclusive hair show, stylists will have the freedom to choose products and education based on performance and need, rather than being confined by societal expectations of "black hair" or "white hair" categorization. This shift empowers stylists to become more capable beauty professionals and align with brands that share their values. I am determined to continue creating inclusive spaces within the beauty industry, and next on my agenda are the hair shows! Our mission to break down texture and racial barriers, build connections, and foster an inclusive industry is a challenge I gladly accept. I firmly believe in the power of unity and understanding, through which we can create a truly inclusive beauty industry where diversity and inclusion are not just acknowledged, but celebrated. I sincerely hope to see you at the Texture VS Race Summit and look forward to changing the industry together.🤎 With gratitude, Keya Neal
